Average White Man Music Video

Seriously, what’s up with this guy?
Chicago-based hardcore band Work Party asked us to produce a music video for their song, “Average White Man” from their 2021 album, “My Best Days Are Behind Me.” Because production would need to happen at the height of the 2020 COVID pandemic, we opted to produce a stop motion video that would have minimal crew for social distancing purposes.
We constructed a small living room and bedroom set, used a combination of clay sculpting and posable dolls to bring our characters to life, and used an Edelkrone slider with Dragoframe to create motion controlled camera moves with our animations. Creatively-speaking, the band let us take the wheel and we kept the concept simple.
Set in the mid-1990s, we follow a shut in who couldn’t care less about the goings-on outside of his home. Maybe he’s given up on being an upstanding member of society, or maybe he just doesn’t want to risk anyone finding out what he keeps in his refrigerator.
