Animation has a way of making it easier to talk about difficult subjects.
We had the pleasure of partnering with Andy Madden at Madden Creative to produce this animated introductory video for Hephzibah Children's Association, an Oak Park, IL non-profit that provides residential treatment, foster care, daycare, and adoption services for children who have suffered from abuse and neglect.
Through our collaboration with Andy and the Hephzibah team, we wanted to convey a gentle seriousness with the use of flowing lines, morphing pastel-colored shapes, graceful movements, and then cohere all of those elements using halation, grain, and a lower frame rate that evokes the nostalgia of cinematic stop motion.
To help build something for an organization that extends a warm hand in such dark times was quite an honor.
